LES CAHIERS SECRETS is inspired by fragments from the diaries of Anaïs Nin.

For a new generation of women, Anaïs Nin embodies the voice of the inner worlds of eroticism and creativity. Her story is one of many lives, both as a writer and as a private individual. In 1930s Paris, she established herself within literary circles, offering both financial and artistic support to a community of writers.

In the 1940s, the erotic stories she wrote for one dollar a page made her a pioneer of female erotica, although they were not published until shortly before her death. In 1966, fueled by second-wave feminism’s renewed interest in women’s voices, The Diary of Anaïs Nin was published by Harcourt Brace, cementing her literary reputation.

After her death, her work was overshadowed by the more scandalous revelations found in her unexpurgated diaries, as well as by the controversy surrounding her double life as a bigamist across two continents. It was only in the internet era that her lyrical expression of femininity was fully rediscovered, reclaimed, and embraced.
