LA BAGUE D’O is an olfactory reinterpretation of Pauline Réage’s provocative masterpiece.

The story opens like a fairy tale. O is taken by her lover to a château, and it is there that her journey of sexual submission begins.

The book, which was never intended for publication, first took the form of a series of letters written by a woman to her lover. When it was published under a pseudonym, Story of O became both a controversial classic and a major work of literature.

Years later, the novel became even more intriguing when the identity of its previously unknown author was revealed: a discreet and reserved woman. Writing in pencil “so as not to stain the sheets,” Anne Desclos, under the pen names Pauline Réage and Dominique Aury, composed Story of O in bed, in the form of letters addressed to her married lover, seeking to prove that the female erotic imagination could be more subversive than that of men.

In 1975, Just Jaeckin’s film adaptation added a layer of dreamlike fantasy to the story, revealing the heroine’s cold and self-determined resolution.
